Gibbons receives FARMER endorsement

Ellwood City, PA – Farmers Allied for Responsive More Effective Government (FARMER) has endorsed State Representative Jaret Gibbons for re-election in the 10th Legislative District. FARMER is the Political Action Committee of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the largest organization representing the interests of farmers across Pennsylvania.

Rep. Gibbons was recognized by FARMER as a “Supporter of Agriculture” for his commitment to promoting farming and strong voting record on agricultural issues. “I am honored to receive the support of FARMER and the local farming community. I have always been an advocate for our local farm families and am proud to have the endorsement of the people who work hard every day in the pastures, fields and barns to make agriculture Pennsylvania’s largest industry,” said Gibbons in accepting the FARMER endorsement.

The Board of Directors of the Beaver-Lawrence Farm Bureau presented Rep. Gibbons with the FARMER endorsement and a contribution to his re-election campaign at their annual farm tour at Deerfield Farms in Volant.

“Jaret Gibbons has always been a strong supporter of agriculture and advocate for Pennsylvania farm families. We at the Farm Bureau are glad to support his re-election to continue being a voice for our local farmer’s in Harrisburg,” said Ed McCready, a member of the board of director for the Beaver-Lawrence Farm Bureau.

A longtime member of the House Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee, Rep. Gibbons has helped pass many pieces of legislation to benefit local farm families, including the elimination of inheritance tax on the transfer of family farms to protect the future of farming in our commonwealth.

Earlier this year, when local 4-H programs were at risk of shutting down due to the 9 month budget standoff, Rep. Gibbons stepped up and worked across party lines to finally pass a budget that ensured these and other vital program stayed open. Gibbons understands, “We need to fund programs that build a strong foundation for our children’s future and educate the next generation of family farmers, and no one does this better at than Penn State Cooperative Extension and the 4-H program.”

Gibbons said, “I look forward to continuing my work to help the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau pass legislation to build a solid future for agriculture in our state.”

FARMER was organized in 1981 to pool the financial resources and goodwill of the agricultural community to support the election of FARMER friendly candidates the General Assembly. FARMER is the only bi-partisan candidate support group organized and administered by farmers.
