Mrs. Shirley E. Gearhart, 81, of Ellwood City passed away on Monday, August, 8, 2016 in the Evergreen Nursing Center.
Mrs. Gearhart was born on May 15, 1935 in Ellwood City to the late Floyd and Mary Kathryn Antherson Smith, Sr.. She is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1953, and the Christ Presbyterian Church. Shirley had worked at Loccisano’s Golden Dawn as a baker for 42 years. She enjoyed baking, but mostly spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Gearhart is survived by her daughters, Suellen (John) Dillon of Bridgeville, and Sally (Tim) Brandt of Ellwood City, her son, Scott (Candace) Gearhart of Colorado Spring, CO, her six grandchildren, Dan (Shannon) Gearhart, Lauren Gearhart, Joshua Gearhart, Eric (Kayla) Brandt, Christopher Brandt, and Alyssa Dillon, her sister, Rita Reno of Princeton, and her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Gearhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William D. Gearhart whom she married on June 27, 1953 and passed away on July 17, 2007, and her brother, Floyd Smith, Jr..
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3-4 pm in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A Service for Mrs. Gearhart will be held on Thursday at 4:00 pm with Rev. R. Tod Custer officiating. Interment will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Gearhart’s name may be made to the Wreaths Across America program, wreathsacrossamerica.org.
