Grace Martha Scarpitti, 97, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016 of natural causes.
She was born May 30, 1919, raised in Ellwood City, and lived in her home at 1204 Beaver Avenue from the age of 8 until moving to Shenango Presbyterian Care in New Wilmington, Pa in 2008 where she received the finest care. She worked in various mills and factories in Ellwood City from the age of 15, when she left school during the Great depression to help support her family, until retiring from the Ellwood City Knitting Mill.
Grace enjoyed dancing and family. Grace was a faithful believer and lifetime member of the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church.
Grace is survived by her sister, Norma Frengel of New Castle, her niece, Mickey (Jim) Sheehan of Dallas, TX, three nephews; Sam (Janet) Pezzi of Chewton, Bob (Anita) Pezzi of Beaver, and Dave (Barb) Frengel of Butler, along with numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lorenzo Scarpitti, her mother, Sally (Sheldone) Scarpitti, her sister, Rose Pezzi, and her brother, Louis “Harpo” Scarpitti.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 pm in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A Blessing Service for Grace will be held on Friday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home with Father Zachary Galiyas officiating. Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
