Alfred M. Aniceti, 91, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2016 in the Ellwood City Hospital Emergency Room.
Alfred was born on July 22, 1924 in New Castle to the late Giovanni and Camille Peltier Aniceti. During his youth, Alfred joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, a New Deal program that allowed teenagers to work on public related projects. He then served with the American Merchant Marines from May 14, 1943 until his discharge on July 5, 1945. Alfred was awarded the Merchant Marine Emblem, Atlantic War Zone Bar, Mediterranean-Middle East War Zone Bar and the Combat Bar with stars.
Alfred retired from the Ellwood City Ledger in 1985 where had worked as a pressman for 34 years. He then worked at the Butler Auto Auction from 1985 until 2010. He is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and had served as an usher for many years at the church. He is also a member of the Sons of Italy #608, enjoyed coin collecting, and was an avid golfer and bowler.
Alfred is survived by his daughter, Anna Marie Renkin of Ellwood City, his son, Ronald Aniceti of Ellwood City, his grandchildren, Eric Squicquero, Kristen Renkin, and Christopher Renkin, his great-grandchildren, Ashley Brown, Jordan Lemanski, Paige, Melena, and Ryan Squicquero, and his sisters, Gina Ferruchie and Elizabeth Petro both of Wampum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean O. Coccia Aniceti whom he married on Aug. 9, 1948 and passed away on Nov. 7, 2008, his son, Gregory Aniceti in infancy, his brother, Andrew J. Aniceti, Sr. and his son-in-law, Wayne Renkin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A Blessing Service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Father Mark Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the cemetery on Thursday by 11:20 a.m. to conduct full military honors. Memorial contributions in Mr. Aniceti’s name may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation.
