Mary M. DeBlaso, 90 of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in her residence with her loving family at her bedside.
Mary was born on Dec. 5, 1925 in Ellwood City to the late Salvadore and Sarah Casusa LaPenta I. She is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1943. Mary worked for many years at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill as a seamstress. She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Christian Mothers of the Holy Redeemer Parish. Mary also belonged to the Corona D’Italia Lodge #807, the Golden Agers, and the Moose Lodge #93 and enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Gallagher of Fla., Diane (Ross “Rusty) Atkinson of North Sewickley Twp., and Carole Todd of Ellport, her six sons, Frank DeBlaso of Ellwood City, Lawrence (Kathy) DeBlaso, Jr. of Ellwood City, David (Debby) DeBlaso of Georgia, Mark DeBlaso of Colo., Craig (Holly) DeBlaso of Little Washington, Pa., and Gary (Cindy) DeBlaso of Wayne Twp., along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence “Larry” DeBlaso, Sr. whom she married on Sept. 19, 1947 and passed away on March 28, 1981, her two sons-in-law, Donald Gallagher and Steve Todd, her sisters, Rose Gatto, Lena Russo, and Diane Lodivico, and her brothers, Frank LaPenta, Salvadore LaPenta II, and Carmen J. “Ace” LaPenta, Sr.
As per Mary’s wishes there will not be a public visitation or service. Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. Memorial contributions in Mrs. DeBlaso’s name may be made to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund or to the Ellwood City Area Public Library.
