Doris Jean Carney, 85

Doris Jean Carney, 85, of Beaver Falls, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, March 14, 2016 at Providence Care Center in Beaver Falls following a lengthy illness. For the last eight months, she had resided with her daughter, Debra Sommers, who cared for her, along with caregiver Dee McCandless and Grane Hospice.

Doris was born in Ellwood City on Oct. 13, 1930 to the late Archie Floyd Weil, Sr. and the late Anna Magdaline Dambach Weil. She graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1948 and married her late husband of 47 years, Albert R. Carney, on July 31, 1949. He preceded her in death on Feb.10, 1997.  She was a member of Marion Hill Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and worked as a bookkeeper for Emess Lighting Company, Keystone Bakery, Ugite Gas, Medimart in Beaver, the Beaver County Courthouse, and the New Brighton Post Office.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by her daughter, Barbara Lee Tunell, on Oct. 3, 2013. The last of her family, she was also preceded by two sisters and a brother: Elsie Mae Lutz, Margie Ann Pocza, and Archie Floyd “Butch” Weil, Jr.

Doris is survived by two daughters and four sons: Diana Freshcorn of  Hopewell Township, James (and Shawn) Carney of Marietta, GA, Debra Sommers of Chippewa, Richard (and Frankie) Carney of Kimball, MI, Robert (and Melody) Carney of Patterson Township, and Brian “Doug” (and Darla) Carney of New Brighton. Fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.

Per Doris’ request, private services will be held at the Turner Funeral Home of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, with Rev. Jeff Youell, chaplain for Grane Hospice, officiating.

Entombment will take place in the Holy Redeemer Cemetery, St. Peter’s Mausoleum, North Sewickley Township.
