Dorothy M. (Sutkowski) Flecher, 88

Dorothy M. (Sutkowski) Flecher, 88, of Ellwood City went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born on July 22, 1927 in Ellwood City to the late Stanislaw and Caroline Pogozelec Sutkowski. She is a member of the Lincoln High School graduating class of 1945, the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Christian Mothers of the Holy Redeemer Parish. After high school graduation, Dorothy worked at the Tube Mill in Ellwood City for several years.

Friends and family would describe Dorothy as a servant in the truest sense, finding her greatest joy in doing for others, never expecting anything in return. Those who were privileged to call her mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt or friend were truly blessed. Respected for her compassionate heart and nurturing insight, Dorothy was always willing to help one who sought her guidance. Whether speaking with family member or someone she met at the grocery store, she always encouraged and inspired them to become the best they can be. She continually displayed extraordinary dedication to her large family and adopted community-being well known as an excellent cook, baker, seamstress and problem solver. She certainly enjoyed all forms of needlework from embroidery to crocheting. Even as her health slowed over the last few years, she knitted and gifted over 100 scarves. Her selflessness, loving and caring spirit touched the lives of all she met. Mom loved to read, watch Jeopardy, and solve daily crossword and Sudoku puzzles.

Dorothy is survived by her nine children, Janet (Mary Lou) Flecher of Hesperia, Calif., William A. (Kathy) Flecher, Jr. of Medina, Ohio, Joseph (Colleen) Flecher of Perry Twp., Thomas (Patricia) Flecher of North Royalton, Ohio, Jane Orsulak of Nokesville, VI, Paul (Susan) Flecher of Cranberry Twp., Susan (Ken) Gwirtz of North Lima, Ohio, Barbara (John) Filmer of Whitesboro, N.Y., and Mark (Leslie) Flecher of New Castle, her 20 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Leona (Leonard) Wolfe of Ellwood City, her brothers, Stanley (Mary Ann) Sutkowski and Robert (Barbara) Sutkowski both of Ellwood City, and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Jean Sutkowski of Wayne Twp.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William A. Flecher, Sr. whom she married on Jan. 6, 1951 and passed away on Dec. 24, 2013, her son-in-law, John Orsulak, and her brothers, Raymond J., John A., and Edmund S. Sutkowski.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services.
