Elsie H. Sommer Forsyth, 94, formerly of Ellwood City passed away on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Elsie was born on June 19, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John and Mary Binder Sommer. She is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1939, and the Bethel Lutheran Church in Glenshaw. Elsie had worked at the Ellwood City Water Co. for several years as a clerk and later at the Ellwood Federal Savings & Loan as a teller. She enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint.
She leaves her beloved sons, David Forsyth of Enon Valley and James M. (Joyce) Forsyth of Springfield, Ohio, her nine grandchildren, and her three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert E. Forsyth whom she married on Dec. 7, 1951 and passed away on Sept. 12, 2014, and her sister, Mary Sommer.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A Service for Mrs. Forsyth will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Arthur E. Litke officiating. Interment will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Elsie’s name may be made to the Ellwood City Area Public Library.
