Lillie D’Ambrosio Bernabe, 92, of New Castle passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 in the Jameson Memorial Hospital.
Lillie was born on June 1, 1923 in Ellwood City to the late Frank and Lizana Innocent D’Ambrosio, Sr. She had worked as a manager for the Cozy Inn in New Castle for several years, and later as a cook for the former St. Joseph the Worker Assisted Living Home. She was an active member of the St. Vitus Catholic Church. Lillie’s joy in life was being with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Bernadette “Dee-Dee” (Michael) Fedeles, Sr. of Cortland, Ohio, and Linda (Dennis) Phillian of New Castle, her son, Louis (Renee) Bernabe III of Greenville, her five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her two sisters, Isabelle Costa of Wayne Twp. and Louise Paglia of Hermitage, her two brothers, Frank (Mable) D’Ambrosio, Jr. of Ellwood City and Emmett D’Ambrosio of Franklin Twp., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis Bernabe II whom she married on April 14, 1944 and passed away on Jan. 29, 1994, her sisters, Jennie Cortese, Theresa Roberson, and Mary Morini, her brothers, Fred, Anthony, Guy Idona, Domenic, Angelo, and Alfonso D’Ambrosio, her granddaughter in infancy, her grandson Michael Fedeles, Jr., and her great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Holy Redeemer Church. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
