Theodore Allen “Ted” Zimmerman, 85 formerly of Kindale St., North Sewickley Twp., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the Lutheran Senior Living Center in Zelienople.
Ted was born in Philadelphia on Jan. 16, 1931, the son of the late Alice Zimmerman. He is survived by his wife the former Judith Pitzer whom he married on Feb. 21, 1953.
Ted was a service technician at Herge Electric in Ellwood City from 1953 until they closed in 1976, he later owned and operated Zimmerman Service from 1976 until his retirement in 1994. Ted was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and a former member of North Sewickley Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon, Trustee and Elder. Ted was a member of the Ellwood City Rotary Club and a veteran of the Navy.
Besides his wife Judith, Ted is survived by four sons, Greg and Hazel Zimmerman of New Brighton, Rev. Raymond and Melinda Zimmerman of New Castle, Karl and Carla Zimmerman of Fombell and Todd and Marianne Zimmerman of Wampum, a daughter-in-law, Tonda Zimmerman of Exmore, Va., two half sisters, Sarah Fritts and Alice Friday both of Trail Martin, Ga., two half brothers, George Williams of Lavonia, Ga. and Joseph Williams of North Sewickley Twp., 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ted was preceded in death by a son, Roland Zimmerman.
Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
A Funeral Service will be offered by Rev. Shawn Brubaker and Ted’s son Rev. Raymond Zimmerman in the Funeral Home at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Full military rites will be offered by the Veteran’s Honor Guard.
