The Lady Wolverines earned their first wins of the season in two non-conference games.
On Monday, Ellwood City hosted Union, thrashing them 50-3. They followed that with another home win yesterday against Knoch with a score of 40-34.
Against Union, Ellwood’s quintuple of seniors could not be stopped, scoring 48 of the team’s points. Allie McKelvey and Karrington Ketterer led the charge with 16 and 10 points.
Against Knoch, the Lady Wolverines faced a serious challenge, not securing a win until the decisive final quarter, scoring 11-6. The offense revolved around Ketterer, who made six two-point shots and eight free throws.
Unlike the rough game against Riverside on Dec. 4, Ketterer took more shots that made it through the hoop, with a two-point field goal attempt increase from 17 to 50 percent.
Leading the offense for Knoch were Carly Burdett with 10 points and Emily Fraser with 9.
The Lady Wolverines have their first conference game tomorrow at Ambridge.
