Rose Gottuso, 90, of Ellwood City, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, in the Ellwood City Hospital.
Rose was born on March 24, 1925, in Ellwood City, to the late Biagio and Concetta Cione Cientanni. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1943. Rose had worked at the Ellwood City Ledger as a secretary, and then for the Ellwood City Area School District as a library assistant for over 40 years. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish, the Golden Agers and Challenges. Rose was an avid bowler and had belonged to many bowling leagues in the area.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Grace Gottuso (Jerry Malarik) of Waterford, Pa.; her sons, James (Linda) Gottuso of Ellwood City, William (Gwen) Gottuso of Baltimore, Thomas (Marilynn) Gottuso of Ellwood City, and Richard (Krista) Gottuso of Hubbard, Oh.; her 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and her brother, James (Ellen) Cientanni of Yardley, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James V. Gottuso, whom she married on Aug. 8, 1946 and passed away on Aug. 25, 2004, and her brothers, Louis R. Cientanni and Albert M. Cientanni.
As per Rose’s wishes, private services were held on Tuesday at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City.
Memorial contributions in Rose’s name may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
