Annual Strawberry Festival to Return Thursday

The annual Strawberry Festival hosted by the First Church of God will be this Thursday, located at 1862 Mercer Road, Franklin Township, from 4:30-7p.m. Although the main focus of the event will be centered around an array of strawberry-infused desserts, ham barbecue and sloppy Joe sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans, macaroni salad, and chips will also be available. Proceeds will benefit the church’s youth group – many of which will be taking part in the event.


Ellwood City Summer Concert Series

Ellwood City’s 5th Summer Concert Series in the Community Plaza will begin tomorrow, June 17th, with the Harmony-Zelienople Community Band kicking off the series. Ellwood City Summer Playground Program

Children ages 5-13 will be meeting weekdays from 10a.m.-2p.m. at the Ewing Park shelter #5 for the borough’s Summer Playground Program, starting June 12-August 10 (excluding June 29-July 4 for the Arts and Crafts Festival) and will be partaking in activities such as kayaking, yoga, and other summer activities. Celebration of the Arts Event

The Ellwood City Area Public Library is hosting its second annual “Celebration of the Arts” event in July, with this year’s theme centering around local artists and their work. A variety of mediums will be featured, including painting and drawing, wood work, fabric art and more. “Art on the Avenue,” sponsored by the Library Anniversary Committee, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 28th, and will be very similar in nature to the “Author Fair” held last year. Faith Fellowship Baptist Church Seeks Youth for Vacation Bible School

Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, located right besides Domino’s Pizza in Ellport, is currently seeking students for their vacation bible school (VBS) during June 12-14. There is no cost for the VBS and a light snack will be provided Monday and Tuesday, and on Wednesday there will be a pizza party. Bible study is centered around learning about Jesus Christ while having fun participating in games, making crafts,  and being with other children/teens. Windy Ridge Dairy Farm is hosting their 6th annual Milk Fest on June 3. Sweet Caroline’s to Officially Open Tomorrow

Sweet Caroline’s is finally bringing ice cream back to Lawrence Avenue! The shops official opening is tomorrow, May 19. They will be opening their doors to the public starting at 2p.m. and staying open until 9p.m. according to their event page on Facebook.
