Federal marshals apprehended a New Castle man charged with attempted homicide in an Ellport house last Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Shaquone Lockett, 20, was wanted by New Castle police since an incident on Oct. 12. Lockett was charged with attempt to commit homicide, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person. All charges are first degree felonies.

According to the criminal complaint filed with District Judge Melissa Amodie, Lockett shot Ortarius Williams, 19, of New Castle, in the face with a shotgun. During his recovery, Williams informed investigating officers that he had been lured to an alleyway by acquaintances when Lockett stepped behind him and demanded money. Lockett proceeded to shoot Williams in the face and rob him. Williams returned fire with a handgun but missed.

According to published sources, Williams required intensive treatment but recovered.

New Castle police enlisted the aid of U.S. Marshals and on Feb. 2, Lockett was apprehended in an Ellport house. It is unknown to the Ellwoodcity.org staff why Lockett fled to Ellport.

Lockett was arraigned before District Judge Amodie, who committed him to Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 10 in Lawrence County Central Court.

Correction: Lockett was apprehended last Tuesday, Feb. 2, not last Tuesday, Feb. 9.
