Riverside Panthers Finish 15th Overall In WPIAL Class 2A Swimming Championships

The Riverside Panthers boys swim team placed 15th Overall in the WPIAL Class 2A Swimming & Diving Championships that took place Thursday and Friday at Treas Pool on campus at the University of Pittsburgh. The Panthers relay team shined with a top-10 finish in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. The team qualified both the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay for the PIAA state championships. Gabe Lilly Claims Championship In Class AA Wrestling Sectionals

Gabe Lilly claimed the crown in the 160-pound weight class at the Class AA sectionals held Saturday at Keystone Oaks High School. Forty-four teams competed. Lilly pinned both of his opponents in the semifinals and finals and his championship match victory helped him reach 100 career victories. Lilly opened up the afternoon with a technical fall victory over Aaryn Edwards (Carlynton). Lilly pinned Carmine Battaglia (Beaver County Christian) at 1:24 in the championship. Four Local XC Runners Qualify For PIAA State Championships

Four local cross country runners qualified for PIAA State Championships with their individual performances Thursday in the WPIAL Championships held at White Oak Park in McKeesport. Drew Steffler (9th, 16:20.70), Bradley Custer (13th, 16:34.90), and Lucas Bleakney (23rd, 16:50.60) helped pace the Ellwood City Wolverines team that finish 7th overall. All three runners will advance to Hershey, PA for the PIAA Championships to be held Friday, November 1st. Riverside Finishes 7th In WPIAL Swimming Championships, Roth Earns Two Silver Medals

Panther swimmers Peter Ruggeri, Nick Young, Nathan Goff, Gavin Frederick, Michael Styn, Ryan Turner, and Joseph Roth represented Riverside High School this past weekend at the WPIAL Class 2A Swimming Championships. Lexi Fluharty finished 1st Overall in the WPIAL Class-A Cross Country Championships at White Oak Park in McKeesport on Thursday. The Riverside senior finished with a time of 18:54.50.  Fellow Panther runners Brooke Wissinger (20:48.10) and Isabella D’Allessandro (30:39.90) helped pace the Riverside team effort in the girls Class-A Championships. Alden Wetzel Earns WPIAL Gold, Seven Panthers Qualify For PIAA

Riverside Panther runner Alden Wetzel earned WPIAL gold Wednesday, finishing in 1st place in the 400m dash at the WPIAL Individual Championship meet at Slippery Rock University. The junior finished with a time of 49.94 to earn gold. Wetzel also placed 6th in the high jump with a mark of 5’9″.
