Caitlin Kretizer and Delaney Sturgeon combined to score 11 points in the fourth quarter to spark the Lady Wolverines to a 40-37 comeback victory over #4 Keystone Oaks Wednesday night. Lady Wolverines Upset Seton LaSalle, Earn First Playoff Victory Since ’95

Delaney Sturgeon poured in 28 points to lead Ellwood City to its first WPIAL playoff victory since 1995 with a 49-41 upset of No. 5 seed Seton LaSalle in a Class 3A first round game played at Chartiers Valley. Sturgeon score nine of the Wolverines 12 fourth quarter points as Ellwood City pulled away for the victory. Evan Skinner led a trio of Panthers scoring in double figures Friday night as Riverside knocked off New Brighton 65-36 on Senior Night. Skinner finished with four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 18 points in the victory. Will Sullivan (16 points) and McCartney Plassmeyer (10 points) joined Skinner in double figures. The Riverside girls basketball team easily dispatched of visiting New Brighton Thursday night during its senior night contest. The Lady Panthers defeated the Lions 60-7 to help run their regular season record to 14-8 Overall. DeLana Fox and Camryn Friello each scored 11 points for Riverside. Joseph Roth and the Ellwood City Wolverines boys basketball have qualified for the PIAA State Playoffs after collecting a 40-37 victory over Yough on Wednesday in a 7th place WPIAL Class-3A consolation game. Roth scored 21 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and sank two critical free throws with less than five seconds remaining in the contest. The senior now has 2,049 career points. A strong second quarter propelled the Wolverines to a 53-36 victory over Washington Monday night in its WPIAL 3A opening round playoff contest.
