Ellwood City rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Shenango, 5-2, in the 73rd Ellwood City Little League Tournament on Tuesday night. Ben Sukits smacked the key hit of the game with a three-run triple which erased a 2-1 deficit. Joey Zito and Luca Smith combined for a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts to lead Ellwood City on the mound. Beaver, Lawrence County Projects Receive a Combined Total of $4.3 Million

HARRISBURG – A total of five Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants, with a combined total of $4.3 million, have been awarded to Beaver and Lawrence County projects, according to Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47). The majority of that grant funding total – $2.3 million – went to Shenango Area School District toward the cost of the already-constructed Shenango Recreation Complex in Shenango Township, Lawrence County. The Ellwood City Wolverines offense was on display Friday night as the running back duo of Rick Pitrelli and Donavin Chambers combined for five offensive touchdowns on the night while racking up almost 300 offensive yards as well in the Wolverines big defeat of the Wildcats 42-14. Club Hope Foundation Sells Pink Out Challenge Shirts for Ellwood vs. Riverside Football

The Club Hope Foundation is selling Pink Out T-Shirts for $10 to be worn for the football games during October. Club Hope is doing a Football Challenge at the Ellwood vs. Riverside game on October 12. A teacher from each school will go on the field at halftime and throw mini-footballs into a garbage can. The teacher that loses has to wear a t-shirt from the other school for the remainder of the game.
