The Riverside nonprofit organization, ROAR, hosted a “Touch a Truck” event yesterday as part of their annual fundraising activities. Laura Zelch, a mother of three who attend Riverside, is one of the founders of the organization and thought a “Touch a Truck” event would be a unique and fun way to get the community, especially those with children, interested in the event. “We reached out to our contacts and put together an event we thought would appeal to the children in the community. 6th Graders Participate in Array of Fun Activities at the Park-A-Palooza

The Chamber of Commerce held their annual Ewing Park-A-Palooza May 15 for all 6th graders from Hartman and Riverside. There were ten stations for the students to visit, designed to enhance the learning experience for the students in an alternative setting presented by volunteers. The students participate in several physical activities provided by the staff of Air Fitness that encourages team building and fitness. Ellwood City Wolves Club Presents Scholarships to Lincoln and Riverside High School Seniors

NORTH SEWICKLEY TWP. –The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II, through their scholarship program, continues to honor the achievements of outstanding Lincoln and Riverside High School seniors by encouraging them to pursue their dreams through higher education. At their annual scholarship dinner on May 21 at the Connoquenessing Country Club, the Wolves Club announced that nine Lincoln and Riverside seniors would receive a total of $9,500 to help fund their college education. WPIAL Track Championship Qualifiers

Several local athletes qualified for states during the Track WPIAL Championships yesterday held at Baldwin High School. Riverside Qualifiers: Lance Fisher is the best in the WPIAL Class 2A in both discus and shot put. Calvin Wetzel took first in Boys 300 Meter Hurdles AA. Former Panther Standout Named GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year

Tiffin University right-hander Michael Boswell finished his rookie campaign with five wins in 11 appearances, helping the Dragons post their best winning percentage in program history. For his efforts, Boswell was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman Pitcher of the Year, the first time a Tiffin player has ever taken the award. Boswell finished second on the team in innings and wins, and averaged 8.02 strikeouts per nine innings. The students at Riverside are getting ready to celebrate the 2017 prom. Doors to the event will open at 6:00 for both the auditorium and gymnasium. Students will walk through the gymnasium beginning at 6:25. Promenade begins in the auditorium at 6:30, followed by prom at Shakespeare’s until midnight. Tickets for the auditorium are $5 each. Seating in the gymnasium is free of charge. After-prom follows until 5am, also at Shakespeare’s. The after-prom features casino games, Minute to Win It, photo booth, and prizes. Adam Jeannette didn’t allow a single run as Riverside Panthers Varsity defeated Lincoln 10-0 on Wednesday. Jeannette allowed just two hits and struck out Roth to end the game. An early lead helped propel Riverside Panthers Varsity to victory.
