Communication key as No. 9 BC3 Set to Defend Volleyball Crowns

Butler, PA – Above the squeaks and echoes inside Butler County Community College’s Field House are shouts of “Five! Five! Five!” and “A! A! A!” and “Three! Three! Pollution Control Project Funded in Lawrence County

Lawrence County Conservation District received $2,000 to implement a Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Project. “This grant allows our conservation district to address local pollution issues. We plan to educate local residents on how they can do their part to ensure there is enough clean water for future generations,” said Katie Schmidt, Watershed Specialist. Education and outreach about the project began in May of this year, and the District is continuing to look for volunteers. Training will occur in the fall and the project will be continued indefinitely afterward. Thirty-seven projects will be funded in 31 of the state’s counties. Projects…

First 2017 United Fund Check Presented to Director of Ellwood Family Center

Andrew Kindle, Treasurer of the Ellwood City United Fund, presented a check to Ricki Coccia, Director of Ellwood Family Center as the first disbursement of collected funds for the year 2017. “All agencies will receive 20% less because of the shortfall in the 2017 campaign,” Kindle said. The United Fund had discussed holding the money for a later disbursement date, but decided that it would cause a hardship on the agencies who really need the funds. BC3 to Host OSHA Construction Standards, Trainer Courses

Butler, PA – Butler County Community College has entered into a host-site agreement with West Virginia University Safety and Health Extension to host Occupational Safety and Health Administration Training Institute Education Center courses on BC3’s main campus and at BC3 @ LindenPointe. An OSHA 510 Construction Standards course will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 5-8 on BC3’s main campus, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10-13 at BC3 @ LindenPointe in Hermitage, according to Tom Baughman, BC3’s energy and safety specialist. CCBC Revives Gift of $150,000

Monaca, PA – The Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) has received a $150,000 gift from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation to create and lead a tristate consortium of industry leaders, higher education providers, workforce development boards, and others in order to prepare a trained workforce for energy and advanced manufacturing jobs. CCBC Expands Nursing Program to Washington County

(Monaca, PA) – Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) has announced the expansion of its associate degree in nursing program to a site in Washington County. The Western Area Career and Technology Center (WACTC), located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, will serve as a new location for CCBC’s nursing program, providing expanded career opportunities for Washington County practical nursing students interested in advancing as registered nurses. Lincoln High Varsity Football Announcement

Any boy entering grades 9 through 12 this fall is reminded that football practices begin on August 7, 2017 at Hellings Stadium at 1:30 pm. Prior to attending this practice student/athletes are required to complete a PIAA physical exam. The physical exam paperwork can be picked up at the high school office from 8 am. to 2 pm. Monday through Friday. No student can participate without a physical exam. Equipment will be issued to players on August 2, 2017 at 6:30 pm. at Helling Stadium.

Firing Squad 9, Marauders 4 Jake Krummert collected a hat trick and his brother Ben 4 points in the win for Firing Squad. Ryan Bartolomeo scored twice to lead the Marauders.  Good luck and thank you to Firing Squad’s Jon Sedgwick who added 3 points in his final game of the session before departing for basic training. CCBC Student Athlete Retention Program Helps Athletes Make the Grade

Monaca, PA – Community College of Beaver County’s (CCBC) Student Athlete Retention Program, which offers counseling services, workshops, mentors, tutors, student educational plans, and progress report monitoring, is ensuring that that the College’s student-athletes are recognized for their academic achievements in addition to successes on the field or court.
