Mayor Court held the monthly Crime Watch Meeting for August, touching upon topics concerning crime of the past month. There was discussion about scams throughout the area, targeting our elderly and some of the scams included the IRS and Publishers Clearing House. Frank Sniezek of Jaret Gibbons Office spoke to the audience about the new texting and driving laws of Pennsylvania. Man Calls Police for Relationship Advice According to the police report, on Sept. 2, police were called to scene because a husband and wife were having a disagreement. The man told the responding officer that the disagreement started because his wife was talking to other guys on Facebook. The officer thoughtfully listened to both sides of the story and advised the couple to handle their relationship like adults, especially in front of their children. David Rowbotham, 40, of Wampum is facing charges of impersonating a public servant, criminal coercion, harassment by communication and a wiretap violation after he called a woman and pretended to be a state trooper. He is accused of threatening her and he telling her she had a burglary warrant for her arrest. Rowbotham recorded the calls without permission from the victim. According to the report, the victim and defendant were hardly acquaintances and the victim was likely targeted due to being loosely linked in a domestic dispute. Updated 8-31-16 at 8a.m. According to the criminal complaint filed this morning, at approximately 6:45 in the morning, officers were dispatched to 515 Loop Street for a robbery in progress. The caller advised police that her boyfriend was held at gun point and gave the robbers $24.00 and a bag of marijuana. While police were on their way to the address the caller said her boyfriend was shot at and the robbers were armed, fleeing on foot towards Aetna Drive. Man resisting arrest results in a bloody struggle According to the criminal complaint filed on August 25, Jamie Steven Sullivan, 44, will be facing charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, presenting false identification to law enforcement, and criminal mischief. Sullivan and two friends were pulled over for suspicious behavior witnessed by officers on Thursday night. Law enforcement asked the gentlemen in the car for some sort of identification; while two of the men gave police officers their driver license, Sullivan stated he didn’t have an I.D.
