Mayor Court Swears In Officer Joshua Sipe

A recently hired police officer was sworn in by Mayor Anthony Court on November 30, 2020. Officer Joshua Sipe is a full-time officer. Ellwood City Police Department now has 10 full-time officers and 3 part-time officers in the department. The new officer was sworn in at Mayor Court’s office in the Ellwood City Municipal Building. Ellwood City PD Issues Fraud Warning

The Ellwood City Police Department issued the following warning to area residents: The Police Department has received inquiries about a possible scam involving local utilities (Electric, Gas, Water and Sewage). A resident reported receiving a call (Red Flag #1) that their utility bill was past due and their utility would be shut off if the individual didn’t WIRE MONEY (Red flag #2) to them in the next 20 minutes (Red Flag #3). The individual made contact with the Utility Company to discover that they would not contact them in such a manner to get payment on a past due account….

Local Man Arrested Last Night, Possessing Several Grams of Cocaine According to the police report last night around 3a.m. an Ellwood City officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked on Bridge Street with the headlights on. At this time a female was observed in the drivers seat. Ellwood City Man Smashes Front Window of Main Street Bar & Grill According to the criminal complaint, earlier this month police were called for a disturbance near the rear parking lot of Main Street Bar & Grill. Michael David Pounds, 28, of Ellwood City, was among several people involved in an altercation, he appeared intoxicated, had a bloody lip and head, and had a large lump on his left cheek. Shots Fired This Morning on 13th Street According to the police report, this morning around 3a.m. police were dispatched to the Pounds residence on 13th Street for a shots fired call. Dispatch gave a description of a white SUV with a loud muffler who shot at the compound.
