Hartman Students Evacuate School for Fire Alarm

This morning the students of Hartman were evacuated from the school after a fire scare. According to the Ellwood City Area School District, it was a false alarm caused by the roof project taking place at the school. Firefighters inspected the school and gave the all-clear for students to safely go back in. The roof project is now going to be shut down during the day to avoid further similar issues.


Father Charged with Child Endangerment After Incident Involving Marijuana

A 21-year-old father is facing charges of endangering the welfare of children, along with a charge of a DUI, possession of controlled substance and possession of an offensive weapon after an incident that occurred on July 22. According to the criminal complaint, an Ellwood City police officer was patrolling the Ewing Park area after it was closed for the night, noticing a vehicle traveling towards the back of the park near the gates that were already secured. 32 Year-Old Accused of Sexually Assaulting Young Boy in Chippewa Walmart Bathroom

According to KDKA News, Adam Michael Tatusko, 32, of West Mayfield is facing a number of charges, including indecent assault and corruption of minors after sexually assaulting a young boy in the bathroom of the Chippewa Walmart last Tuesday. Reports state that Tatusko followed the young boy into the bathroom, waited until no one else was in the bathroom, and used a “Doctor Who wand,” claiming it was a taser, to force the child into a stall and take his clothes off. Mohawk Senior Dies From Injuries After Bicycle Accident

A senior set to graduate from Mohawk High School next week died yesterday from sustained injuries following an accident, reports state. Jordan Bobin was life flown to UPMC Presbyterian after colliding with an SUV Monday afternoon while traveling on Route 18 in Big Beaver on his bicycle. Investigators believe Bobin was trying to cross the road when he was hit. No more information has been released yet. The crash is still under investigation. Updates to follow.  


Lieutenant Speaks About Importance of Drug Take-Back Programs

The Ellwood City Police Department is sponsoring a drug take-back program on Saturday, April 29 at the Ellwood City Municipal Building. Residents may use the opportunity to turn in unused or expired medication for safe disposal, which the Ellwood City Police Lieutenant says is a critical step towards improving the growing amount of drug addictions. “The importance of the program is that it takes away the ability to use prescription drugs from people who may be experimenting with them, especially the opioids,” Lt. Lawrence County Man Facing 50 Counts of Sexual Abuse of Children

Jay W. Flagg, 60, of 319 S. Croton Ave., New Castle, is facing 50 felony counts of sexual abuse of children, one felony count of dissemination of photographs, videotapes, computer depictions, and films, and one felony count of criminal use of communication facility proceeding an incident involving child pornography. According to the criminal complaint filed 3-24-17, on 2-23-16 Flagg was investigated after the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Computer Crime Unit, forwarded two CyberTip reports indicated that a male suspect in the Lawrence County are had uploaded child pornography to the internet using Google related services in 2015. “The images depict…
