PHOTOS: Panthers Defeated By Beaver Falls, Ryleigh Clyde Crowned Homecoming Queen

The Riverside Panthers were defeated Friday night 41-6 by Beaver Falls at Riverside Memorial Stadium. After the team exchanged scores to open the section contest, Beaver Falls (3-3 Overall) scored six straight times including a safety, punt return, and interception return to pull away. Neither team scored in the second half. The Tigers outgained Riverside 514-126. The Panthers (0-5 Overall) next travels to Western Beaver on Saturday, October 7th for a 12:30 p.m. match-up. PHOTOS: 2021 Ellwood City Light Up Night

Ellwood City held its annual Light Up Night in downtown Ellwood City on Friday with the official lighting of the Christmas tree and ensuing fireworks display. After a year hiatus, the event returned with various activities for families and vendors set up on Lawrence Avenue. A horse-drawn sleigh, a local singer, a DJ and a brass quintet playing Christmas carols all welcomed visitors for Ellwood City and the surrounding communities who descended on Lawrence Avenue for the evening. Over 37 million people in 16,124 communities celebrate America’s National Night Out against crime. National Night Out, began in 1984 in an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. National Night Outs are held on the first Tuesday of August. Franklin Township held their 6th Annual Community Day National Night Out Event on, August 7.
