Ellwood City Social Service Organization Asks for Extra $1,000 Donation by Borough

The Holy Redeemer Ministerial Social Service Organization is asking council to approve a donation for their Energy Fund in the amount of $4,000 – $1,000 more than the original requested amount, paid for by the Borough’s general fund. The motion was discussed Monday evening at the council meeting and has been approved for the $3,000 donation but is pending approval for the requested $1,000 extra. Motion Approved: T&M to Regrade Ebony Way

The owners of T&M Hardware have had dreams of expanding the store for nearly two decades and finally, over the past year, they have been making the dream a reality. Earlier this year the owners finished razing the properties next to the store to make room for expansions. Girls and Boys Soccer in the WPIAL PLAYOFFS

Both the Riverside Girls and Boys Soccer Teams qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs. The boys will play first as they play this Saturday, October 21 at 3PM at North Allegheny High School as they take on Freeport High School.  The bus will leave from the high school K- Center parking lot at 1 PM. Vogel Emissions Testing Amendment Approved

The Senate Environmental Resources & Energy Committee today approved an amendment that will initiate a legislative study by the Joint State Government Commission on the environmental impact of eliminating the vehicle emissions program in Beaver County, among other counties. Animal Hospital Presents Check to Police Department

Ellwood City’s Mayor Anthony J. Court was thrilled to accept a check from Tammy of the Ellwood City Animal Hospital on behalf of the Ellwood City Police K9 Team, Ranger and Sgt. McBride. Just recently Dr. Cindy Mauro of the Ellwood Animal Hospital, Mayor Court and Sgt. McBride participated in a fundraiser so that the K9 Unit could purchase a GPS for K9 Ranger. Ellwood City Police, Firemen Receive Commendation for Life Saving Event

Several Ellwood City volunteer firemen and two Ellwood City officers attended yesterday’s council meeting while Council President Connie MacDonald read their commendation. On October 4th, a man working at Blank Concrete and Supply Co. went into full cardiac arrest, police officers Matthew Kennedy and Robert Magnifico were first to arrive on scene and immediately started CPR. Together both the officers and firefighters performed life-saving techniques on the man including using an AED to stabilize him while waiting for paramedics to arrive.
