Mini-casinos seemed so promising back in October 2017 when gaming expansion legislation authorized licenses for 10 satellite casinos. Just think: The creation of 10 smaller casinos scattered throughout the state would mean millions in new license auction fees for Pennsylvania, additional gambling revenue streams and more casino jobs. Implicit in the mini-casino legislation, there would then be a total of 23 brick-and-mortar gambling facilities. That would have been 13 regular casinos or racinos plus the 10 new mini-casinos. According to an article published on PennBets.com website, the cancellation of Mount Airy Resort Casino’s plans for a mini-casino in Beaver County came as abrupt, unexpected news to the public, but the project had been doomed months ago by trouble obtaining needed financing. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board hosted Tuesday a public hearing in Big Beaver to hear additional details about a proposed mini-casino by the owners of Mount Airy Casino Resort. Developers presented a summary of their 400-page application with the state gaming regulator to a packed room at the Big Beaver fire hall. The Gaming Control Board selected in February Mount Airy as the winning bidders for the construction of one of five mini-casinos across the state. Mount Airy Casino Public Hearing Next Week

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will hold a public hearing next week for the proposed Mount Airy Casino planned to be built in Big Beaver Borough next year. According to the application made available earlier this week, the proposed 110-acre site will be located on the north side of 1-76, east of 1-376 and south of Fairlane Boulevard. It is proposed to construct a casino facility consisting of 40 gaming tables (10 seats per table) and 750 slot machines, resulting in 1,150 gaming positions. HARRISBURG, PA: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced Thursday that it will hold a public input hearing on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in the social room of the Big Beaver Borough Fire Station #14 to collect testimony on the Category 4 casino application submitted by Mount Airy #1, LLC.
