Rosalindo Morales Jr., a 23-year-old Ellwood City native, reigned champion in his first professional boxing match on Saturday, August 12 at the Rivers Casino, against opponent Adam Young of Memphis, Tennessee. He won all four rounds unanimously against Young and said he couldn’t have done it without all the local support. “The fight was incredible and the support I had from everyone from Ellwood was truly amazing and I couldn’t have done it without them,” Morales stated. The Lincoln Class of 1954 “Night at the Movies” event on Saturday, July 15, began with the arrival of guests driving around the lawn display of parking spaces marked by posts holding the “speakers” facing a large marquee inscribed “Blue Sky Drive-In” and screen with now playing “Night at the Movies.” Leading up to the entrance of the Ellwood City Saxon Club, the movie popcorn smell greeted the arrivals as they entered and were registered by Pudue LaCava, Bob Calve, “Pinky” Maielli and Ellie Paul. Return of the Color Run

The Ellwood City Color Run was such a hit last year that the organizers, Stacie Hackett and Kim Rangel, decided to do it again this year. “It was a huge success last year with over 150 runners – everyone was dosed in color having a great time and we raised a lot of money for the cheerleaders,” Hackett stated. Dominic Nocera, a 2017 graduate of Lincoln High School, Ellwood City was awarded the second Tommy Novosel Scholarship at a service on May 28th at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish in Ellwood City. Dominic was a member of the National Honor Society, Peer Leadership, Student Council and Club Hope. He was an altar server at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a volunteer for the Carpenter’s Project. His future studies will be in Biomedical Engineering – Prosthetics. PHOTO: Senior Receives Ellwood Area Education Association Scholarship

Lincoln High student, Joseph Cortez, received a $1,500 scholarship from the Ellwood Area Education Association. The scholarship is funded every year by contributions from the teachers in the Ellwood City School District. The recipient is selected based on a combination of grades and SAT scores.
