Memorial Day Parade Photos

Veterans & family members of Veterans will be carrying photos of their loved ones once again at this year’s Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29 at 10:00 am. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate as the parade is open to members of the community to join. If you would like to march with a photo or ride in the parade, please contact: Scott Golmic, General Chairman of the Parade Committee at 724-816-0498. The deadline to submit photos to The Color Center is May 22nd. Your photo will be enlarged onto an 18-by-24 inch sign for only $12.00.

Sweet Caroline’s to Officially Open Tomorrow

Sweet Caroline’s is finally bringing ice cream back to Lawrence Avenue! The shops official opening is tomorrow, May 19. They will be opening their doors to the public starting at 2p.m. and staying open until 9p.m. according to their event page on Facebook. An array of ice cream specialties made with ice cream crafted by the local dairy store, Windy Ridge Dairy, will be available for consumption. Senator Vogel announced today that he will host a veterans’ specialist in his New Castle District Office to assist constituents with various issues related to their military service. Stephanie Bengoa of the American Legion Veterans Assistance Program will be available on Wednesday, May 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Senator Vogel’s New Castle Office (1905 W State St New Castle). House Passes Bernstine Bill to Hold Lottery Winners Accountable for Debts

HARRISBURG – Common-sense, bipartisan legislation to intercept lottery winnings by individuals who are delinquent on state taxes or behind on child support payments has passed unanimously in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, announced bill sponsor, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence).  House Bill 674 requires the Department of Revenue (DOR) to determine whether taxpayers who win a single prize of more than $2,500 from the Pennsylvania Lottery have any unpaid state taxes. If the taxpayer does have an outstanding state tax liability and all appeal rights have been exhausted, the amount of state tax that is owed will be deducted from the winnings…

State Low-Interest Loan to Help North Sewickley Township Fire Department Purchase Truck, Says Bernstine

BEAVER FALLS – State Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-New Beaver) announced today that Pennsylvania’s Volunteer Loan Assistance Program has approved a $200,000 low-interest loan for the North Sewickley Township Volunteer Fire Department. Easter Sunday Shooter Suspected in Western Pennsylvania

UPDATED: 4/18 at 10a.m. A manhunt has been warranted in several states after suspect, Steve Stephens, shot and killed an elderly man midday Easter Sunday and uploaded the killing to his Facebook page. According to reports, Stephens, 37, of Cleveland Ohio, fatally shot random passerby 74-year-old Robert Godwin in a residential area east of Cleveland, uploaded footage of the shooting to his Facebook, and fled the scene.
