PHOTOS: Mass Casualty Incident Exercise On Lawrence Avenue

As part of the ongoing efforts of Operation Healthy Ellwood, military and local emergency responders went through a mass casualty incident (MCI) exercise Tuesday evening on Lawrence Avenue in Ellwood City. The scenario simulated a vehicle striking multiple pedestrians, requiring a rapid and coordinated emergency response. Operation Healthy Ellwood is a Department of Defense initiative bringing no-cost health services to the community. Nearly 200 military medical professionals from the Air Force, Army, and Navy are staffing the no-cost health clinic at Lincoln High School that concludes this week.

Paving Set To Begin On Lawrence Avenue

As part of the ongoing PennDOT SR351 project, construction crews will start base repairs on Lawrence Avenue beginning Wednesday night and continue repairs through Friday night. According to borough manager Kevin Swogger, road work will be done between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Lawrence Avenue is due to expect paving this week. Next week the milling and paving will be starting on 5th Street for two night and then finishing up the Crescent Avenue and 4th Street section. Coming Soon To Main Street

Ellwood City has its fair share of good places to sit down and eat on days where no one feels like cooking. There’s something for everyone and the list just got a tad bigger. VIDEO: Building Partially Collapses On Lawrence Ave

According to multiple news reports, a portion of a brick building on the 400 block of Lawrence Avenue fell outward Thursday afternoon in Ellwood City. Parts of brick at 425 Lawrence Avenue, Franus Architects Associates, fell outward and onto the roof of the neighboring building, Taste of China, causing some noise and chaos.
