December 26th, 1992, Bill Clinton was elected, but not yet inaugurated. OJ was still a well respected football analyst and Jimmy (Tritt), Fran (McLaughlin) and I (Brian Hudson) decided to go golfing with all of the new golf equipment that we had gotten for Christmas. Justin Hand Ties Tiffin University Single Round Record, Helping Dragons Finish 4th at Doc Spragg

Riverside graduate Justin Hand tied the Tiffin University record with a 6-under par 66 at the Doc Spragg Invitational hosted by the University of Findlay in September. Hand led the Dragons to a 4th place finish at the invitational held on Tuesday, September 21st. The Dragons shot a invite-best 290 in round three, improving from 293 in round one and 291 in round two. Indianapolis won with 851, followed by Missouri-St. Louis with 868 and Findlay with 869. Ellwood City Golf Off To Fast Start, Now 4-0 After Defeating Riverside

The Ellwood City boys golf team is off to a fast start this year, improving their season record to an impressive 4-0 after its 213-219 victory on the road Tuesday afternoon over cross town rival Riverside. Senior Milo Sesti continued his torrid pace, posting an 3-under round of 33 on Tuesday. Sesti had also fired two sub-40 rounds last week to power the Wolverines to victories over Freedom and Mohawk. FORE! The Tee Box Indoor Golf and Sports Lounge in Ellwood City is now officially open for business after hosting their grand opening event this past Friday. Hudson Qualifies For PIAA Golf Championships

Ellwood City’s Joey Hudson shot a round of 83 at the par-70 Allegheny Country Club Thursday afternoon to finish 11th overall in the WPIAL boys golf championships, helping qualify for the state championships later this month. “My round at Allegheny was a roller coaster as I had many ups and downs throughout,” Hudson said. “The playing conditions at the course were tough as the winds were very high and the greens were lightning quick. Jack Ferrante Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament

The Jack Ferrante Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be at Del Mar Golf Course on Sunday, August 11. The tournament is named after Jack Ferrante, who had been the first Groundskeeper/Pro at the Del Mar Golf Course. “He played an important role in the development of the course in the early 1960s,” said event organizer, Joe Cioffi, in a statement. Riverside Senior Shines But Misses Cut For U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championship

Justin Hand, a soon-to-be-senior at Riverside High School, finished with a second-round 77 last Tuesday, missing the cut after his first two rounds (76+77=153) at the 2019 US Junior Amateur Championship. Hand had qualified for the tournament after finishing first in a field of 46 golfers at a sectional qualifier held in June at Grove City Country Club. Three players finished -4 to top the leaderboard after two days.
