“Waylon’s Story” Benefit

Waylon DelBoverlando is a two year old who suffers from a rare autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disease called Mucopolysaccharidosis, also known as Sanfilippo Syndrome. Caused by a deficiency in one of the enzymes needed to break down the glycosaminoglycan heparan sulfate, those affected suffer most from neurological symptoms. Ellwood City Storytelling Festival Scheduled

The Ellwood City Storytelling Festival, a free event, will be held on September 16 from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Ewing Park. The festival is a beloved community event that features free activities for children and professional storytellers. This year’s theme “Into the Woods” will feature many tales. The storytelling stage will feature the talent of Tim Hartman, Bill Pate, Jocelyn Dabney, Mike Perry, and Lisa Hollingsworth-Segedy. Art On The Avenue Expected To Be a Hit

Judging by how well last year’s Author Fair went, library director Veronica Pacella expects Art on the Avenue to be just as popular. “It was such a hit last year, everyone had a great time. We had upwards of 250 people attend the Author Fair last year, the library was so crowded I couldn’t even get to all of the authors to speak with them because they always had a crowd around their table,” Pacella said. “We had 25 authors last year and we will have 28 artists this year – so we expect an even bigger crowd.” Art on…


Franklin Township’s 5th Annual Community Day National Night Out

Franklin Township is hosting their 5th annual Community Day National Night Out Event on Tuesday, August 1, from 6-9p.m. in the Franklin Plaza. There will be free children activities including face painting, balloon twisting, bounce house, inflatable slide, at petting zoo. Return of the Color Run

The Ellwood City Color Run was such a hit last year that the organizers, Stacie Hackett and Kim Rangel, decided to do it again this year. “It was a huge success last year with over 150 runners – everyone was dosed in color having a great time and we raised a lot of money for the cheerleaders,” Hackett stated.
