EC Boys Golf Remains Unbeaten, Girls Tennis Victorious, ECXC Sweeps

The Ellwood City boys golf team defeated Mohawk on Wednesday afternoon to remain unbeaten in its regular season. Four Wolverines shot sub-40 as Ellwood City won 191-240 at Del Mar Golf Course. Luca Carsele, Gino Biondi, and Adam Jeffcoat each shot 37 while Cam Keller joined with a round of 39. Dante Venezie rounded out the scoring with a round of 41 for the victors. Ellwood City (12-0 Overall) will next host Riverside on Thursday afternoon at 3:15 p.m. at Del Mar GC. Q&A: ECXC Off To Races Under New Head Coach Chris Ludwig

The Ellwood City cross country team is off the races this 2026 season under the direction of new head coach Chris Ludwig. Ludwig enters his 15th year teaching and fourth year with the cross country program and enters the head coaching position vacated by Nate Brown. The cross country teams start their season on Saturday, September 5th when they participate in the 54th Marty Uher Vulcan Invitational at California University of Pennsylvania (PennWest) before beginning Class 2A-1 section play with a tri-county meet on September 8th at Beaver Falls. Ellwood City Boys Cross Country Team Places 3rd In WPIAL Championships, Advances to PIAA

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team finished with a bronze medal Thursday at the WPIAL Class 2A Cross Country Championships and will advance to the PIAA State Championships next weekend. “As a collective, we had an extremely successful day and I believe we shocked some boys teams,” said head coach Nate Brown.
