Chewton VFD Ladies Auxiliary Celebrates 70 Years of Community Service
The Chewton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary celebrated a milestone this year, 70 years of community service, with a dinner honoring the three surviving charter members, Barbara Barr, Lois Chappell, and Frances Sbarro. Beginning on October 20th 1953, by a group of women, some who were the wives of firemen, knew there was a need for their department and community and came together to do their part to help the department and the purpose they served through financial and moral support.
