Local Mom Earns Diploma Through Adult Literacy Program Aided by BC3

(New Castle, PA) Katlin Phillippi earned A’s and B’s and C’s at Lincoln High School in Ellwood City and in the health assistant program at the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center in New Castle, then dropped out in her sophomore year. She was the mother of 2-year-old daughter and her boyfriend, Trevor, the father of Sophey, had just been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. BC3 To Temporarily Require Face Coverings To Be Worn Indoors

(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College will temporarily require face coverings to be worn indoors at all BC3 locations because of an increase in community transmission levels of COVID-19 in the counties the college serves. The requirement applies to students, faculty, staff and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, and takes effect Aug. 19 at BC3 locations in Armstrong, Butler, Jefferson, Lawrence and Mercer counties. The college encourages, but will not require, a COVID-19 vaccination for students, faculty and staff. BC3 Education Foundation Golf Outing Raises Record $115K

(Butler, PA) A golf outing that raises funds for the Butler County Community College Education Foundation on Aug. 6 raised the most money in its 26-year history. The 2021 single-year record of $115,000 follows then-records of $100,000 in 2020 and of $95,000 in 2019. The outing attracted 29 teams representing six western Pennsylvania counties and was held for the 11th consecutive year at Olde Stonewall Golf Club near Ellwood City. BC3 Begins To Raze Two Buildings In Preparation For High-Tech Nine Million Dollar Facility

(Butler, PA) With repeated swipes of its five 6-inch steel teeth at the end of its outstretched 38-foot-long arm, an excavator Thursday morning began to shred the roofing and tear through walls of two buildings at Butler County Community College in preparation for the construction of the college’s $9 million, state-of-the-art Victor K. Phillips Nursing and Allied Health Building. BC3 Gets State Approval To Launch Practical Nursing Program

(Butler, PA) The Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing has authorized Butler County Community College to create a practical nursing program on BC3’s main campus, an approval that will enable the college to prepare students for the high-priority occupation in western Pennsylvania. The college in June 2020 announced its plan to establish the program as a result of an up to $10 million partnership with Concordia Lutheran Ministries, a Cabot-based health care provider. Prospective Students Can Learn About BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing At Summer Open House

New Castle, PA) A summer open house Aug. 2 will introduce prospective students to BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing’s selection of 19 associate degree and certificate programs, its affordability compared to other regional colleges and universities and the transferability of its credits. BC3 Expands College Within The High School Progam

(Butler, PA) Eligible sophomores through seniors from any high school this fall can earn affordable, transferrable college credits through remote-instruction courses offered by a Butler County Community College program. BC3’s College Within the High School program will offer five three-credit courses during afternoons and evenings. BC3 Plans Outdoor, Walk-Thru Mini Ceremonies For Class Of 2021 Commencement

Butler County Community College’s 53rd annual commencement May 19 will feature a series of outdoor, walk-thru mini-ceremonies for successive groups of graduates. The mini-ceremonies will be held on BC3’s main campus in Butler Township. The first of the approximately 45-minute-long mini-ceremonies begins at 1 p.m. and the last, tentatively at 6:15 p.m. Graduates who register for commencement by April 30 will be notified by email about their designated arrival time. (Butler, PA) Butler County Community College will offer more than 180 courses this summer to BC3 and guest students in face-to-face classes available at BC3 locations in Armstrong, Butler, Jefferson, Lawrence and Mercer counties, or in online or hybrid formats.
