Mayor Anthony J. Court recently presented a proclamation to Tony “Hoots” Mazzei to help celebrate his 30 years as “Hoots Music Center”. “Tony Mazzei served Ellwood City and the surrounding areas with dedication and commitment in the music industry,” said Mayor Court in an emailed statement. “Throughout his history he provided our community with music lessons and instruments with grace and distinction. Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Celebrating 225th Anniversary On Sunday

On Sunday, August 25th, Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church is celebrating a special day – commemorating 225 years of God’s faithfulness at Slippery Rock Church. Come out to celebrate, share a memory and enjoy God’s ministry at the church. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. with worship service led by Rv. Special Activities Group of the Holy Redeemer Church Celebrates 60th Anniversary

On Sunday, October 22, 2023, members of the Special Activities Group of the Holy Redeemer Church met to celebrate their 60th Anniversary. Fifty four members and their guests were present and enjoyed a meal of chicken marsala, beef tips, meatballs and pasta. John Biondi presented a history of the Special Activities Group (fondly called SAG). The Group was created in 1963 by parishioners who wanted to assist in funding non-budgeted items the school and church would need during a year. 100th Anniversary of Ewing Park Baseball Complex This Friday

The Ewing Park Baseball Complex will mark its’ 100th anniversary on Friday, June 18. On this day in 1921, the first baseball game was played at the newly-constructed Ewing Park Baseball Field. On that Saturday afternoon, the Ellwood City Shelby county league team defeated Hubbard, Ohio, 20-9. The New Castle News reported, “Ewing Park”, which was used for the very first time, proved an ideal place for playing baseball.” Ewing Park became the baseball hub for Ellwood City and remains, 100 years later, the baseball center of Ellwood City.
