PHOTOS: Balanced Panthers Attack Leads To Rivalry Victory

The Riverside Panthers used a balance scoring attack Friday night in their 66-51 rivalry victory over Ellwood City. Riverside was led by three players in double digits including Justin Baust who finished with a game-high 15 points.  Baust was joined in double figures by Gunnar Boehm (14 points) and Jesse Fornataro (11 points). HOMECOMING: Panthers Secure Playoff Spot With Friday Night Victory

For the Riverside Panthers, Friday night’s 28-26 victory over North Catholic was twice as nice as it secured second place in the Midwestern Athletic Conference and a home WPIAL Class 2A playoff berth as well as cemented a tone of revenge for last year’s blowout loss to the Trojans. Haunted Hill View Manor

Located on the outskirts of New Castle lies one of the most popular western Pennsylvania ghost hunting locations- Hill View Manor. The manor is an 85,000 square foot building that opened in the 1920’s as a  “poor farm” and halfway house but was later turned into a care facility in the 1970’s. Its doors closed permanently in 2004 and remained lifeless until it was sold to new management a few years later who turned it into a prime spot for paranormal investigators, thrill seekers, and skeptics. Lincoln High School 2016 Homecoming Queen’s Court

PHOTOS: Rescue Dog Visits North Side

Daisy, a 4 year old Dogo Argentino, and her handler Melissa Parker visited North Side Primary School on Friday afternoon as part of the schools “service learning projects” scheduled throughout the year to teach the students about their community. The event was used to introduce and educate the students on rescue dogs and emphasizing the impact the responding police, fireman, and other rescue dogs can have in certain events. PHOTOS: Wolverine offense struggles, Hopewell prevails

Points scored in football games is usually done by the offensive side of the ball.  For fans who love the up-tempo offense, quick scores, and plenty of scrimmage yards, Friday night’s game vs. Hopewell would have been an eyesore of drives that just didn’t finish. Between Hopewell and the Wolverines, over 100 plays were taken on the night.  However, the snaps only mounted to a game total of 431 offensive yards from both teams together.  With that being said, drama did occur late in the game. PHOTOS: 2016 Ellwood City Pie Festival (indoors!)

Due to pending thunderstorms and wet weather forecasted to enter the area Thursday evening, the annual Pie Festival was moved indoors to the Lincoln High School large gymnasium.  The change was announced by the school early Thursday afternoon and later reported confirmed on Twitter, first by the Lincoln Blue Band account (@LHSBlueBand). The event is normally held at Helling Stadium, but precautions were taken by moving the event indoors this year. Lincoln High School Blue Band members and Ellwood City fall sport team members were announced.
