Daisy, a 4 year old Dogo Argentino, and her handler Melissa Parker visited North Side Primary School on Friday afternoon as part of the schools “service learning projects” scheduled throughout the year to teach the students about their community. The event was used to introduce and educate the students on rescue dogs and emphasizing the impact the responding police, fireman, and other rescue dogs can have in certain events. Points scored in football games is usually done by the offensive side of the ball. For fans who love the up-tempo offense, quick scores, and plenty of scrimmage yards, Friday night’s game vs. Hopewell would have been an eyesore of drives that just didn’t finish. Between Hopewell and the Wolverines, over 100 plays were taken on the night. However, the snaps only mounted to a game total of 431 offensive yards from both teams together. Due to pending thunderstorms and wet weather forecasted to enter the area Thursday evening, the annual Pie Festival was moved indoors to the Lincoln High School large gymnasium. The change was announced by the school early Thursday afternoon and later reported confirmed on Twitter, first by the Lincoln Blue Band account (@LHSBlueBand). The event is normally held at Helling Stadium, but precautions were taken by moving the event indoors this year. Lincoln High School Blue Band members and Ellwood City fall sport team members were announced.
The 75-member Harmony Zelienople Band performed in Ellwood City on Saturday, July 30 and played a medley of marching songs, movie music and folk songs.

The Holy Redeemer 50th Annual Bazaar started Wednesday, July 27 and will run through Saturday July 30. The 36th annual Ellwood City festival was held over the weekend of July 2-3. The festival featured over 30 new vendors and an expanded lineup of local entertainment.
Lincoln High School awarded 117 diplomas to the Class of 2016 during graduation ceremonies yesterday in the high school auditorium. The class valedictorians, Nikol Damato and Paige Mason, gave speeches, along with student council president Carter MacMurdo and school board president Renee Pitrelli. MacMurdo, a high honor graduate, is attending the u.S. Naval Academy, which requires a rigorous application process including a nomination from a U.S. Congress member, U.S. Senator, the president or vice president.
