The Wolverines were wiped out 19-0 by visiting Western Beaver on Friday night as part of the Ellwood City homecoming festivities. Saylee Grinnen was crowned 2019 Homecoming Queen at halftime. Big plays doomed the Ellwood City, as a 94-yard first quarter touchdown run, kick-started what became on offensive onslaught by Neshannock as the visiting Lancers routed the Wolverines 44-0 Friday night. The Lancers used five scoring plays of over 30 yards, including two scoring runs of 55+ yards, to race away to victory. VIDEO: Local Teenager Recovering From Lung Disorder Due To Vaping

A local teenager, recently released from the hospital, how has become one of 22 patients within UPMC this year alone who had lung-related problems due to vaping. According to a regional news outlet KDKA video, the Riverside High School junior spent time in a handful of hospitals before ending up in UPMC Children’s Hospital for 10 days before being released on Tuesday. According to the Center on Addiction website, Vaping is the act of inhaling and exhaling the aerosol, often referred to as vapor, which is produced by an e-cigarette or similar device. Nathan Sciarro accounted for three scores Friday night for Riverside while Ben Hughes tossed three touchdown strikes, but the biggest score of the game – a late 2-point conversion – was thwarted by Freedom and the Bulldogs escaped with a 31-30 victory over the Panthers. PHOTOS: Annual Lincoln High School Pie Festival

With the chance of inclement weather in the forecast Thursday evening, the annual Lincoln High School Pie Festival was moved indoors to the Lincoln High School gymnasium.  The move did not impact the band who entertained those in attendance with tunes to help roll out the 2019-20 school year while fall sports teams were introduced. The celebration and introductions were coupled with hundreds of custom pies baked and donated by Debbie’s Delicious Desserts.  All proceeds benefited the Lincoln High School Marching Blue Band.

Dark clouds loomed Tuesday evening, but after rain came and passed, the 7th Annual Franklin Township Community Days shined with cheer and excitement. The event, held at the Giant Eagle plaza parking lot, consisted of CPR training, Fire Safety, Local Radio Station, free children’s activities such as a bounce house, slide, petting zoo, balloon twisting, face painting, games and a variety of vendors. The local event is part of America’s National Night Out against crime.  National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors, residents, Township Officials, Police, & Fire Departments while bringing back a true sense of community.

FIREWORKS VIDEO, 2019 Ellwood City Festival Summary

Over 150 vendors came out to celebrate Ellwood City’s way to kick off summer over the weekend. Live bands played, painted rocks hidden and found, dancers performed, and winners were announced. To conclude the festivities, fireworks were set off in the Ellwood City football stadium. It looked to be a battle to get fireworks, but our community pulled through, led by 26-year-old Eric Rayner who helped stoke fundraising efforts that doubled projections. The annual Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Foods and Entertainment Festival was held this past weekend in Ewing Park.  Early entertainment included the annual Little Miss Firecracker pageant, won this year by Aria Cannon, and the annual Ellwood City Ledger 10k Race, while food and daily entertainment captivated those in attendance throughout the weekend. Over 150 vendors participated in the event this year with new vendors making up about one-third of the participation.
