Mrs. Erna C Nussbaum passed away peacefully in her home on Monday August 27, 2018. She was 91 years old. She was a long-time resident of Ellwood City. She leaves behind two daughters, Karin M. Nussbaum and Lydia C. (Edward) Mansur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hans J. Nussbaum. She was the daughter of Jakob and Cacelie Belka (born Moll). Erna still has some family members living in Germany who shall miss her. She lived in a small community called Lagerdorf much like Ellwood City where everyone knew each other. Mr. Frederick W. “Fritz” Schuster, 77 , formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the UPMC Mercy Hospital. Mr. Schuster was born on October 23, 1940 in Ellwood City to the late John and Christine “Tillie” (Losch) Schuster. He had graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1959. He enlisted with the U.S. Air Force on March 20, 1961 and served with the 11th Organizational Maintenance Squadron until his discharge on December 17, 1965. as an aircraft mechanic. Fred worked at Matthews Conveyor for 8 years and  then at Inmetco for 22 years….

Randy P. Kirchel, 59, of Wampum Rd., Ellwood City (Wayne Twp.) died Friday, August 24, 2018. Born June 21, 1959 in Beaver Falls, he was the son of Edward P. and Marilyn Safreed Kirchel of Wayne Twp. Randy attended Ellwood City Schools and graduated from Lawrence County Vo Tech in 1977. He worked for the past 45 years with his father at Kirchel’s Auto. Rev. Donald Shellenberger, 91, of Ellwood City passed into eternal life on August 24, 2018. Donald served in the US Navy in the South Pacific on the landing ship LST 1106. Later he worked for Babcock and Wilcox Co. as the Chief of Plant Security for 31 years. He served as Pastor of Bennetts Run United Methodist church for six years. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl, his sister, Joanne Cowie, and his brother, Paul Shellenberger. Mr. Angelo M. Prestopine, 85, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Prestopine was born on March 29, 1933 in Ellwood City to the late Michael J. and Gilda E. (Docchio) Prestopine. He had attended Lincoln High School and was a member of the Holy Redeemer parish. Angelo had worked at the Babcock & Wilcox Steel Mill in Beaver Falls for 37 years. Edward P. Miller,  87, of Alliance Ohio, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 19 2018 at Altercare of Alliance. He was born in Ellwood City on July 4 1931 to the late John and Catherine Linder Miller. Ed graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, class of 1949. He then served for 3 years during   the Korean War in the US Navy. Alice M. Cole, 93, formerly of Cole Rd. (Wayne Twp.) passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in Springfield, Ohio on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Born February 20, 1925 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late George and Ettie O. Bowden Hobel . She was married for 65 years to David W. Cole who passed away December 22, 2007. Esther Matilda Elizabeth “Betty” Gwin, 93, of North Beaver Township Passed away peacefully in her sleep with family by her side on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018. Mrs. Gwin was born May 8, 1925, in Bury St. Edmunds at Suffolk, England, the daughter of Harold V. and Ada C. Ross. She was a 1940 graduate of Ardleigh Green School, Hornchurch, Essex, England. It was in Bury St. Edmunds that she met the love of her life, Harold Lee Gwin, an American soldier with the U.S. Army Air Force stationed at Rougham Air Base in World War II. They married in 1945…

Aseneth J. “Seene” Doctor, 50, of Wilkes Ave., Butler passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler following a short courageous battle with cancer. Born December 26, 1967 in Mercer, she was the daughter of Forrest C. McCamey and Roberta J. Hoffman (Larry) Geer. She was married for 13 years to George S. Doctor who survives.
