James V. Capone, 94

James V. Capone, 94, of Ellport, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born in Ellwood City on January 25, 1923, James was the son of the late Mike and Lucy Abrunzo Capone.  James met his wife, the former Joyce Pantling, in Europe while he was serving in the Army during WWII.  They were married on July 14, 1945 and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2007, a week shy of their 62nd anniversary.  He retired as a straightening operator in the hot finish from the Beaver Falls plant of B&W in 1985 after…

David A. Quintanilla, 66

David A. Quintanilla, 66, of Ellwood City, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford. Born on October 23, 1951, David graduated from Lincoln High School and Lawrence County VoTech in 1970 where he studied restaurant trades.  He served his chef apprenticeship at the Duquesne Club in Pittsburgh.  He owned his own business, Chef DAQ in Ellwood City.  In 2003, David earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn State in Human Development and Family Studies.  David always had a smile and an encouraging word.  He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him….

James T. Irwin, Jr. (Jim) – 74, passed away peacefully at Golden Hill Nursing Home on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 following a lengthy illness. Jim was born on July 6, 1943 in Ellwood City to the late James T. Irwin, Sr. and Virginia Telford Irwin. Jim would have been married 50 years in June to Michele Kraynak Irwin who survives. Nancy L. Hazen, 77, of Ellwood City (Perry Township), passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her family, on Monday evening, December 11, 2017. She was born in Ellwood City on March 6 1940, daughter of the late Harry and Ellen Lutz Stewart. Nancy  worked  at the Ellwood Knitting Mills  and  Pittsburgh Mailing Service in Cranberry. She was married  for over 60 years to her husband, Paul L. Hazen. Nancy served her community, by serving on the Perry Township, Lawrence County  Elections Board for 48 years. Patricia A. Leonhardt , 75, of  New Castle,  (Neshannock Township)  passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at her residence. Patricia was born in New Castle PAon December 26, 1941 to the late Russell and Anne Weppler McKnight. She married the late Robert P. Leonhardt, Jr.,  who preceded her in death on November 14, 2016. Patricia had worked in clerical department at the former Shenango Pottery in New Castle. Mr. Leo E. Sicard, 91, of Wayne Twp. passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the Edison Manor in New Castle. Devin M. Roberto, 30, of Bell Ave., Ellwood City passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 8, 2017 at his home. Born March 26, 1987 in Ellwood City, he was the son of Tim and Lisa McKelvey Roberto with whom he resided. Devin graduated from Riverside High School in 2005.
