George A. Kirkham, 88

George A. Kirkham, 88, of Ellwood City passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born in Ellwood City on March 15, 1929, George was the son of the late Joseph and Hazel Main Kirkham.  He married the former Phyllis Fosnaught on June 30, 1951.  George retired from US Steel as a machinist.  He had also worked at American Bridge, the Aetna Standard and for the Borough of Ellwood City.  A US Army Veteran, George served in Germany and Switzerland.  He was Presbyterian by faith.  George had a passion for fishing. Dennis L. Wallace, 71, of Ellwood City (Wayne Township), passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Ellwood City on December 14, 1945 to the late Clarence Edward Wallace and the late Mildred McQuiston Wallace. Dennie was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, class of 1963. He worked at the former G.K. Mary H. Fray, 70, of Darlington Twp., formerly of Ellwood City, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 following a brief illness. Born in Ellwood City on September 16, 1947, Mary was the daughter of the late John Moroz and Stella Kasicki Moroz Powell.  Mary is survived by Thomas E. Fray, whom she married on June 1, 1969.  Mary was a lifelong member of Holy Redeemer Parish.  She owned and operated Mary’s Pizza and several other Ellwood City restaurants.  Mary enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends. David J. Boydell, 56, of Ellwood City passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital. He was born August 10, 1961 in Ellwood City. Dave graduated from Vo-Tech in 1979. He worked for 26 years as a millwright at BNZ Materials in Zelienople. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Frances J. Campbell, 94, formerly of Hogue Rd. passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Carriage Manor in New Castle. Born July of 1923 in Tug Hill, New York, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Myrtle Hopseker Rogers. Frances was married to Ernest Raymond Campbell who passed away March 2, 1995. Mrs. Campbell was an Elementary School Teacher for 24 years in the Laurel School District. She was a member of the Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church. Frances was an avid reader. Mrs. Alice Elizabeth “Betty” Woodfield, daughter of Mabel McQuiston Cover and George Cover, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Northview Estates in Ellwood City, Pa. Growing up during the great depression, Alice was born on July 16, 1923. She attended a one room school house at the top of Mount Hope road and Dutch Ridge road where she excelled in her class work. Mervin L. Wilson, 85, formerly of Ellwood City passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Princeton Village in Largo, Florida following an extended illness.
