William “Bill” Cox, 75

William “Bill” Cox, 75, of Ellwood City, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Brighton Township. Born in Beaver Falls on June 27, 1942, Bill was the son of the late Everett and Martha Schwartz Cox.  After Bill retired from B&W, he worked for several years at Camp Kon-O-Kwee.  Bill served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.  He loved riding and restoring vintage motorcycles and he also loved his black lab, Cole.  A lifetime member of the NRA, Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and Castlewood Rod…

Mr. George R. Parker, 83, of Perry Twp. passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Heritage Valley Medical Center. Mr. Parker was born on June 6, 1934 in New Castle to the late George H. and Lillian Ketterer Parker. He enlisted with the U.S. Navy on September 23, 1951 and served on the USS Keppler and the USS Cascade until his discharge on September 24, 1959.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Navy Occupation Service Medal (European Clasp). Cheryl A. Gallaugher, 75, of South St., Ellwood City passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at her residence following a one year illness. Born June 4, 1942 in Akron, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Lester Heyl and Wilma Herzig Heyl Columbus. She was married for 57 years to Dean Gallaugher who survives. Cheryl was a member of the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church. She had worked at Ames and then at Dollar General for many years. She enjoyed bowling. John Robert Gavrile, 65 of Ellwood City passed away at Allegheny General Hospital on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Born in Ellwood City on April 28, 1952, John was the son of the late John and Antonetta Butchelle Gavrile.  John is survived by his wife, the former Kelly Jesseman whom he married on September 16, 1979.  John had worked at the Aetna Standard in Ellwood until its closing.  He later worked for Phoenix Glass in Monaca and at US Airways.  John always enjoyed sports, playing as a youth and later in several Ellwood adult softball leagues.  John also enjoyed coaching, he…

Bernard Wise Carbeau, 92, of Ellwood City (Marion Township, Beaver County), passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 28, 2018.  He was at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  Ben was born in Ellwood City on April 1, 1925 to the late Charles William Carbeau and the late Florence Wise Carbeau.   He was a 1943 graduate from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City.  He went on to earn  a B.S.  degree in Commerce from Penn State University in 1950. Curtis Stephenson, 83

Curtis Stephenson, 83, of Turkey Hill Rd., Shenango Twp., passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 following an illness. Born October 5, 1934 in Moravia, PA,  he was the son of the late Jesse Merit and Florence Blanche Allen Stephenson. Curt worked at the P&LE Railroad and at CSX until his retirement on his 63rd birthday. A longtime member of the NRA and of the Wampum Rod and Gun Club, he enjoyed all shooting sports. Ada Louise (Stratton) Hinkle went to be with our Lord on January 23, 2018 at 3:00 AM, after a short illness, while residing at the Lowrie Place, Butler, PA.
