Ellwood City Graduate Found Dead

An investigation is ongoing after Bradley Grinnen, a graduate of Lincoln Junior-Senior High School was found deceased Sunday morning around 11:22a.m. in a dorm room on the campus of Waynesburg University, the college he was attending. After graduating high school playing both football and wrestling, the 21 year old furthered his football career performing as a junior defensive lineman for the university. The Rev. Lost Pig Recovered in Franklin Township

Lost dogs are a common occurrence – but a lost pig is something we don’t hear of often. Franklin Township Police Department uploaded a photo to their Facebook page yesterday containing a pig in a cage, and a caption reading, “solid black pig, approx 60 lbs, friendly & hungry. Found near 400 block of Route 288 near car wash…” The post had over 85 shares by concerned community members, trying to find the pig its home. The pet pig has since been claimed by its owner and is happily back at home.


February “Crime Watch” Meeting Rescheduled

Mayor Court has canceled the “Crime Watch” Meeting that was scheduled for Thursday, February 16, 2017. The meeting is being rescheduled for Thursday, March 30, 2017 @ 6:30 pm in Council Chambers. Hope to see many residents at the meeting.

Deadly Crash in North Sewickley

A crash that happened slightly before 7a.m. this morning on Route 65 going toward New Brighton has claimed the life of a teenager and injured another. According to another news source, 19-year-old old Isaiah Hunter of New Brighton appeared to drift into the opposing lane of traffic, causing a head on collision with an SUV. Hunter’s car set on fire while other drivers attempted to free him, but he did not survive. Two Charged with Marijuana Possession Joseph Edward Haybarger, 20, of Ellwood City, and Anthony Booker, 18, of New Castle, were both charged after an incident that occurred on Jan. 17. According to the criminal complaint, an officer was traveling behind a vehicle operated by Haybarger when the officer noticed the passenger side window was down and the smell of marijuana was emitting from the car. According to the criminal complaint, two males will be facing burglary charges after an incident that occurred on Christmas Day at approximately 11:45p.m. at a residence on Spring Avenue. Officers were advised by the reporting party that two males had kicked in the rear door of the house and left the scene in a green Mitsubishi Eclipse. A 13 year old student was apprehended by North Sewickley Police after his direct involvement in a stolen weapons and terroristic threat incident that occurred last week. Police: Man Rescued from Freezing Water After Fleeing Police

Joseph Boots, 41, of Hillside Ave., in Wayne Township was rescued from frigid waters early Friday morning after fleeing from police. Boots, who already had an outstanding warrant issued in Lawrence County, fled from officers after a domestic dispute which occurred between him and a female who officers said was unrecognizable due to the severe swelling in her face. New Years Public Drunkenness According to the police report, Ellwood officers were requested by the Wampum Police to assist with a publicly drunk female on Jan. 1, 2017. By the time the officers had arrived the Wampum Police had Jody Vankirk, 41, of New Castle, who was inappropriately dressed, detained. Vankirk was being “extremely out of control and intoxicated” while at the station.
