LHS Class Of ’55 Makes Donation To Club Hope Foundation

The Lincoln High School Class of 1955 celebrated their 67th class reunion this past summer and, after some discussion, the classmates have decided to discontinue their formal reunions. In keeping their local wishes, a check in the amount of $272.00 from the class account was presented to Club Hope Foundation last week. $500,000 Grant Awarded For Construction In Stonecrest Business Park

Among six Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants awarded in the tri-county area includes a half-a-million dollar grant to construct flex space in an industrial building located in New Beaver Borough’s Stonecrest Business Park. In 2020, the Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation (LCEDC), in cooperation with Stonecrest Business Park (SBP), announced plans to begin to develop the former golf course into the Stonecrest Business Park.  Grants were awarded to turn the 58-year-old golf course into a business park with promises of bringing 1,000 jobs, according to officials who worked to attract the enterprise to the area with the proposed $7-million…


ECIAHF November Meeting Recap

Members of Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation met on Friday November 18th at Hunter Bros Coffee at the Ellport Junction. President Barbara Mastropietro opened the meeting with the Prayer “To Send Forth.” World War II Veteran and Hero Sargent Guy Prestia led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretarial and financial reports were given by Virginia Ottaviani and Cherlyn Rangel. Since the Cookie Bowl Explosion of 2022 was such a success the group entertained the possibility of a follow-up in 2023. Borough Of Ellwood City Advertising Upcoming Board Vacancies

According to information made available by the borough, the Ellwood City Borough Council is advertising the vacancies on the following Boards and Commissions of Ellwood City Borough: Zoning Hearing Board, EC Planning Commission, Library Board, Board of Health, and Recreation Board. Any Borough resident interested in serving on any of the above positions is asked to submit a letter of interest to the Borough Secretary, 525 Lawrence Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 16117. Ellwood City Borough Council Enacts Advanced Life Support (ALS) Program, hires Borough Manager

Ellwood City Borough Council voted to adopt an ordinance, creating an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Program and to advertise an ordinance creating a 1 mill tax for those services. The move comes following a voter referendum on November 8 during the election in which a majority of voters were in favor of the program. During the October Council meeting, The Ellwood City Community Health Foundation presented the Ellwood City Fire Department a check for $175,000. Lawrence County Offering Energy Conservation & Waste Reduction Workshop

The Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department has announced a new workshop in December. Learn how to ‘green’ your home through energy conservation and waste reduction with money saving and climate tips. The workshop is schedule to take place Thursday, December 1st from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lawrence County Courthouse Annex. 2022 Halloween Costume Contest Winners!

Congratulations to the two, top place prize winners of the 2022 EllwoodCity.org Halloween Costume Contest!! The grand prize winner of the EllwoodCity.org contest was Lorenzo Geminiani, 1 1/2 years old, and our second place winner was Easton Sedgewick. Lorenzo dressed a Ghostbuster with a custom decorated playwheel and collected over 650 Likes to earn the first place cash prize.  Easton dressed as a garden gnome and earned just over 620 Likes for a runner-up finish. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

INDECENT ASSAULT OF A MINOR: Micah Peffer, 31, of Ellwood City is charged with Indecent Assault, Corruption of Minors, and Harrassment after an incident in October. According to a criminal complaint, and on October 13th, police were called to a residence on Loop Street for a disturbance. Upon arrival, Peffer and another man were in an altercation after the man received a call that his 12-year-old daughter was touched inappropriatelyl by Peffer. The girl told police that Peffer grabbed her chest and buttocks while she was sitting on a neighboring porch, an account for which two witnesses corroborated. The girl…
