Historical Society Sponsors Hack Wilson Celebration, Marker To Be Unveiled

An Ellwood City legend and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer will be receiving a state historical marker in his honor with a ceremony planned for later this month. While playing for the Chicago Cubs during the 1930 Major League Baseball season, Ellwood City-born Lewis Robert “Hack” Wilson, slugged National League record 56 homeruns, topping Yankees slugger Babe Ruth’s effort that year. Ellwood City Area School District Launches New Website Ahead of 2023-24 School Year

The Ellwood City Area School District has launched a new, redesigned website ahead of the 2023-24 school year. ECASD Board of Directors Meeting: Ewing Park Residents Oppose New Location for Softball Field

Approximately 25 visitors attended Thursday’s Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors meeting—many to express their opposition to the location of the new softball field. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: On July 24th at approximately 8:51 p.m., PA State Police responded to a report of theft from a vehicle at McConnells Mill Park, Slippery Rock Township. According to the report, and the 29-year-old female victim from Butler, the driver side front window of a 2008 Jeep was smashed and a small multicolor Grateful Dead danccing bear backpack purse was stolen from the vehicle.
