Police: Driving Under the Influence of Methadone, Stealing Thermal Socks, Donuts in the Parking Lot, and More

Methadone-Influenced Driver Causes Accident According to the criminal complaint, on Feb. 10 at approximately 8:30 a.m., a vehicle traveling west on Lawrence Avenue failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a vehicle traveling south on Fourth Street. Investigating officers identified the driver as Luke Garrett Hogue, 29, of New Castle, who admitted to having recently left a methadone clinic. Hogue was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign and following a blood test, was charged with two counts of DUI. Photos: 17th Annual Mr. Lincoln Pageant

The 17th Annual Mr. Lincoln Pageant was held on Sunday, Feb. 28 in the Lincoln High School auditorium. This year’s participants were: Brian Hudson, Nicholas Fleeson, Devin Cortez, Dominic Nocera, Hunter Bailey, Scott Miller, Norman Ballard, Vincent Romanio, Shawn Brown and Corey Hobbs. Dominic Nocera was named Mr. Lincoln 2016. Norman Ballard was the talent winner, and Corey Hobbs had the highest ticket sales. All proceeds from Mr. Lincoln benefit the March of Dimes.

Sanctuary Jazz Band to Perform at Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church

The Sanctuary Jazz Band will be in concert from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 27 at Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church’s fellowship hall, 291 Wurtemburg Road, Wayne Township. The performance will be open to the public. A goodwill offering will be accepted to benefit the Carpenter’s Project.

Police: Juvenile Male Harasses Family Video

Harassment An Ellwood City juvenile male was accused of repeatedly harassing Family Video employees. According to the criminal complaint, on Feb. 22 around 6 p.m., officers received a call from Family Video employees. Employees reported that a 13-year old juvenile male had been told to keep off of Family Video property, as he isn’t allowed in the store without an adult accompanying. The juvenile had been taking pictures of employees through the windows with his cell phone, tapping on the windows and prank calling the store. We are hosting a Paint Party as a fundraiser for the next Women’s Retreat. You many have never been to a party like this! 17th Annual Mr. Lincoln Pageant

The 17th Annual Mr. Lincoln Pageant will take place in the Leslie Sabo Auditorium this Sunday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. Admission is only $5, and tickets can be bought at the door or in advance from any Mr. Lincoln contestant. Crime Watch Meeting Cancelled

Mayor Anthony J. Court has cancelled the Feb. 25, 2016 Crime Watch meeting. The next meeting will take place on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers.
