“Walk this Way” Fashion Show and Tea

Dayspring Harvest Ministries and the Ellwood City Art Club will host a fashion show and tea on Saturday, May 14. The event runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Dayspring Gifts on 316 Sixth St. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children under 18. For reservations, call 724-752-1512. Four Environmental Projects in 47th Senate District Awarded State Grants

  Four different environmental projects in the 47th Senate District will receive Growing Greener grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, according to Senator Elder Vogel Jr. The Lawrence County Conservation District will receive $810,283 for the Slippery Rock Watershed Agricultural Restoration project. Stream Restoration Inc., will receive $99,785 towards the Raccoon Creek Bank & Buffer Project. The Allegheny County Conservation District will receive $54,395 for remediation of the Raccoon Creek Streambank. Ellwood City observed National Day of Prayer with a gathering in the Community Plaza on Lawrence Avenue at noon yesterday. “Wake Up America” was the theme. It was the 65th annual National Day of Prayer. Rev. Norina Owens of Women of Faith International Inc. gave the welcome. State Representative Jaret Gibbons, D-10, gave the greeting and pledge. Gibbons to Host Long-Term Care and Protection Seminar

BEAVER FALLS – State Rep Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, will be hosting a seminar to inform the public on how to protect people’s financial investments, long-term care and estate planning. Borough Encourages Residents in Ellwood and Surrounding Area to Register for CodeRED Emergency Notifications

The Ellwood City Borough has announced the launch of CodeRED, a community alert notification system. All borough residents and those in the Ellwood City area are encouraged to sign up for CodeRED alerts. Those enrolled in the system will receive emergency notifications such as power outages or Amber alerts as well as other notifications such as road closures and snow plow schedules. Residents can sign up to receive notifications via home phone, cell phone and/or text message.
