Christopher Brant is a 17 year old Boy Scout member who attended last nights council meeting and bravely presented his proposed community project to council. 2016 Spring Cleanup Program

The spring clean up program will be held on Saturday, September 17, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. The drop off will be at 1200 Factory Avenue. Procedure: Residents who wish to dispose of their items are to provide our Utility Billing Office with a copy of their electric bill or driver’s license for identification (or an authorized Government ID for non-drivers).  The individual will then be given a numbered tag for $5.00 entitling the recipient to drop off up to one (1) pickup-sized truck/car load at the site.  The tag will be collected at the site located inside the…


Tax Office: Thursday Will be the Last Day for School Tax Discount

This Thursday the 15th will be the last day to receive a school tax discount from the tax office located in the Municipal Building. The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed Friday the 14th. Any questions please call 724-758-9673.

Daisy, a 4 year old Dogo Argentino, and her handler Melissa Parker visited North Side Primary School on Friday afternoon as part of the schools “service learning projects” scheduled throughout the year to teach the students about their community. The event was used to introduce and educate the students on rescue dogs and emphasizing the impact the responding police, fireman, and other rescue dogs can have in certain events. School Teaches Students About 9/11 With Service Dog

Ellwood City’s North Side Primary School has “service learning projects” scheduled throughout the year to teach the students about their community. Today at the primary school, Jessica Herr, an AmeriCorp worker, set up a service learning project to introduce the students to the tragic events that took place in New York City on September 11, 2001. John Magargee and his wife Janice are pleased to welcome Soh Ping Summers, a foreign exchange student they hosted in the year 1978 to 1979, back to Ellwood City after 37 years! Ellwood City Police Not Securing Home Game Tonight

It was mentioned in a previous post that Ellwood City School District is forced to hire private security instead of having Ellwood City Police securing the home games like they have been doing for years. The issue stems from the borough being unable to comply with the schools security needs at this time, mainly due to an ongoing uncertainty regarding how many officers they would need to hire per game.
