POLICE: Ten Arraigned In Operation ‘Spring Clean Up’

According to information made available this afternoon and after a year long investigation, 10 mid level drug dealers were arraigned by local police in what is being called by Mayor Anthony Court, Operation ‘Spring Clean Up’. The raid by police on the criminals took place at approximately 7:00am this morning and led to the filing of ten criminal complaints against the dealers who were selling heroin and other opioids in the 1 year span of the investigation. Last “Second Saturday” Soup Supper of the Season

The last “Second Saturday” – Soup Supper for the season (April 8th,  4 – 6:30p.m.) will be hosted by the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church, 1244 Portersville Road  (Rt 488 by 3rd bridge) Ellwood City, PA  16117. The soups will include broccoli cheese soup and beef veggie, Italian bread, homemade rolls, dessert, beverages and refills will also be included. Eat-in and take-out are both $6; under age 5 is free. Grilled cheese sandwiches are just $1.00 and quarts of soup are $6.00 The church will resume the suppers again in October.    


All You Can Eat Breakfast Event

If you’ve missed their last two all-you-can-eat breakfast events, you can still partake in the remaining two! Join the Masonic Hall Association for breakfast at Ellwood Lodge #599, 512 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 16117 on April 15 and May 20.  From 8a.m. to 11:30a.m. breakfasts will be held at the Ellwood Lodge Building on the 1st Floor. The cost is $7.00 for adults and $3.50 for children (up age 10) for all you can eat scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, pancakes, toast, orange juice and coffee. Proceeds benefit the Masonic Hall Association and other community projects.


40th Annual Maple Syrup Festival

After months of anticipation, the ever-so-popular Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival is finally scheduled for this weekend, Saturday April 1 and Sunday April 2 from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. To prepare for the festival, maple sap is extracted from maple trees scattered throughout the park via a spout and stored in a bucket resting at the bottom of the trees during the winter months, then around spring time the sap is collected and made into the final product – a beloved sugary syrup – which is used to top the all-you-can-eat pancakes served at the event. Third Annual Beaver County Forensics Meet

The Third Annual Beaver County forensics meet was held at Riverside High School on Tuesday, March 28. Five school district participated in the competition that was offered to both junior high and senior high. 12th Annual International Showcase Enjoyed at Riverside High School

On Tuesday, March 21, over 100 tenth grade World Cultures students with the support of 10 International Club students presented the Twelfth Annual International Showcase of Countries at Riverside High School. Following months of preparation, displays that showcased 33 nations of the world were opened to students in the Riverside district from grade K through 8. 30 Riverside classes with nearly 700 students toured the Showcase this year.
