Earth Day reminds us to take action, whether it’s planting trees, cutting down on waste, or pushing for greener policies. The annual Lawrence County Earth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 19th at Ewing Park, Ellwood City from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. This year’s Earth Day celebration will feature a Trashion Show, an Art Show, and a special presentation from Wild World of Animals. Riverside Lions Club Provides Community Support Updates

The Riverside Lions Club continues its community support through various programs and donations. The club offers a series of updates below spotlighting their recent efforts: The club started off the new segment by participating in a District Soup Assembly. Under the supervision of PDG’s Jeff and Maria Laudermilk (Riverside/Hopewell Lions) members from different clubs in the District met at the Butler Blind Association to assemble the equivalent of 9000 dry soup meals. Several Area Police Departments Participating In National Drug Take Back Day

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10am-2pm (local time) at locations nationwide. This event, which happens twice a year, is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs at locations in communities throughout the country. The Ellwood City, Franklin Township, and North Sewickley Township are among those area police departments participating in the drug take back program on Saturday, April 26 that is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m locally. Mayor Court Receives Prestigious “Community Service Award”

Ellwood City Mayor Anthony J. Court was the recipient of the prestigious “Community Service Award” by Vision Ministries at the 8th Annual Braveheart Testimonial Banquet held recently at the New Englander in New Castle. Officer Involved Shooting in North Sewickley Township

A man was shot and killed by Pennsylvania state police in North Sewickley Township after assaulting and stealing the cruiser of an Ohio state police officer Friday, April 4. According to a state police press release, and at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Pennsylvania State Police were notified that an Ohio State Trooper had been assaulted and that the suspect had subsequently stolen the marked police vehicle.
