Relay For Life Fundraiser at The Moose Friday, May 11, 2018 8:00 – 11:00 P.M. The Moose at 1400 Factory Avenue is having a Relay For Life fundraiser.  You don’t have to be a Moose member; this event is open to the public.  For a $5.00 donation at the door you can enjoy Average Jane, look over the basket auction and join in on the 50/50 raffle.  Don’t know who Average Jane is; they are a local acoustic cover band that plays many different genres of music. OLD PHOTO FRIDAY: Counting Souvenir Diamond Jubilee Coins

This week’s Old Photo Friday, courtesy of the Ellwood City Historical Society is Chairman of the revenue division Paul Laurell (left) and Boyd McDowell of McDowell’s Hotel (right), May 10, 1967, counting souvenir Diamond Jubilee coins. The coins were manufactured and used to help publicize the Diamond Jubilee celebration. Ellwood City was founded 1892 and celebrated their 75th anniversary with a series of events throughout the summer of 1967 named the Diamond Jubuilee. The summer featured a street carnival, a grand ball, various church services, musical concerts, fireworks displays and several parades. People were able to obtain the souvenir coins…

Lawrence County Kids Car Show April 29th

The Lawrence County Car Show is a family friendly event featuring cars, face painting and music. The month of April is know as Child Abuse Prevention Month and this event would like to shed light and bring awareness to child abuse, their community and appreciation for our countries resource families. Ellwood City Narcotics Complaint Leads to One Arrested and One at Large

James Hammond Jr., 23, 413 8th St. was charged with manufacturing, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at the intersection of College St. and Wampum Ave. According to a police report, Hammond was pulled over on a bench warrant by Ellwood City Police. Police conducted a search of Hammond’s vehicle and seized a baggie of cocaine from his left sock as well as a silver digital weigh scale. Suspected Drug Operation Leads to Ellport Mans Arrest

ELLPORT- Christopher M. Rusnock, 33, of 113 Duncan Ave., is charged with three counts of manufacturing, delivery or possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of children, after wife files a protection abuse order against him. According to a police report, Rusnock’s wife arrived at the Ellwood City Police Department on Friday with a protection abuse order obtained through the Lawrence County Courthouse. Ellwood City Area Historical Society Membership Meeting

The Ellwood City area Historical Society met for their monthly membership meeting on April 9. Thirty-five people attended and door prizes were won by four. Everett Bleakney welcomed everyone to the meeting and The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jim Houk. Everett asked for a moment of silence for three Society members who had passed away since the March meeting; Sam Mullin, Lois Richards and Carl Sammons.
